Black Lager infused with some killer cold brew from our neighbors across the street at Taylor Maid. With well-rounded coffee notes, this beer has quickly risen to the top as one of our favorites. Blended with Taylor Maid coffee that was aged in 1k lb Gorilla barrels.

July 28th, 2015 - Woodfour's Morning Selfie is a curious brew, with a nice heavy brown color and a gingerbread smell. Paired with that is cocoa and iced coffee, suggesting something between porter and a coffee beer. The flavor is milder but still has the dryness of iced coffee, and finishes with a heavy cocoa aftertaste to flush out all those astringent notes.

this beer was delicious. my favorite of the non wild beers we had on our visit to this underappreciated little brewery. its quite dark, but its not thick and its not bitter, good head from the tap, nice lace as it drinks. the aroma shows a wonderful balance between the dark grains and the coffee, not too much of either, and they strike a fine harmony here. the roast of the coffee seems just a little deeper than the malt, but there is almost no apparent grain sugar left here, which lets the bready and earthy notes of the dark barley really stand out in the coffee. the flavor is the same, really low acid and almost concentrated on the coffee, obviously a cold brew blended in after fermentation. what makes this interesting for me though is the lager aspect, lots of ales built like this but a lot less lagers. i love how crisp and dry it is, oddly refreshing for its color, and somehow summery too, which i almost never say of this sort of thing. the quick finish lets the coffee linger in isolation so the back half of this is just fantastic, great carbonation to wash it down too. good balance and restraint here, nice patient lagering, and a really solid offering. i really liked this coffee lager a lot.

This beer pours a very dark brown with a thin light caramel colored head that goes away quickly. The smell is of roasted malts mixed with coffee. Has a strong dark coffee taste with hints of grains.
