Pours very dark brown colour. Smells like roasted malts, mocha, and a soft earthiness to it. Tastes bitter, milk-chocolate, not very sweet, dark-chocolate mocha, and roasted grains.

they must have improved this some since other reviewers, i didnt get any sour or off or overly hopped flavors to this at all, and while its quite mild for the style, its a pretty solid beer overall, one of the better ones they had working here during my visit. i realize its not overly hard to make a decent milk stout, but they have done a good job with this one. it has a less sweetness than many, which helps with having several of them, and it doesnt sacrifice any of the dark grain flavor. this has a nice deep dark roast to it with notes of coffee and bakers chocolate, bitter more than sweet even with the lactose, and finishing more quickly than many of its peers. mouthfeel lags a little for me, both in terms of liveliness and body. it was on nitro but the bubbles didnt hold, and it felt not quite watery but very thin in terms of structure. some oats to beef this up and i think it would radically improve the overall experience. it sure sounds like their beers are all moving in the right direction though. this is better than its ratings.

I really wanted to like this beer. The brewery is within walking distance and my wife is fond of milk stouts. Unfortunately, it has an odd, bitter aftertaste. Not hops - it's something else I can't identify.

Murmur Milk Stout pours a black color with a huge fluffy tan head. Weak bitter aromas. The taste is very creamy, with a stronger bitterness. Good body and feel. Overall, its very fluffy and creamy, and it has a stronger bitterness.
