not as dramatic or standout as some of the other hoppy beers i have had from cellarmaker over the years, but its hard to argue with a straight up delicious california style ipa in this climate, which is to say everything cloudy and thick and dry hopped to oblivion. this is citra driven with some simcoe and centennial and summit in it, the older school hops in the mix add some nice piney and woody sort of bitterness on top of the softer fruity citra, a cool way to make this balanced without adding too much richer grain to it or by having to overdo the hops to get the proportionality down. the citra is still way in front, but its well rounded here, more complete and full spectrum than it would be on its own, citra rarely does it for me in a single hop context, so i like what the others bring. slick oily west coast feel, lots of texture from the hops as well as flavor, and the malt base has a little honey thing going on that is a nice wrinkle behind the hops. simple in a lot of ways, even a throwback of sorts, but this is what i miss most about ipa right now, so i was pretty stoked on this one. cool to find it on draft in colorado too! what a nice surprise, hopefully there is more to come from cellarmaker out here...

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear golden yellow with a thin layer of head. Good amount of lacing. The aroma is pineapple, tangerine and lemon. The taste is lemon, mango and pineapple. Toasted malts with some pine towards the end. Piney, citrus finish. Dry mouthfeel with a medium body.
