"Sharing Sandwiches" Brett IPA is a collab with the fantastic folks at Highland Park Brewery and The Hermosillo. We threw a moderate amount of piney/earthy Chinook and really fruity Simcoe hops into the mix and fermented with a blend of California Ale and Brett C. The resulting beer is tropical with earthy and leathery complexities from the Brett. Apricot and Tropical up front. Spicy peppery finish. Sandwiches were shared.

The beer pours a pale straw-ish yellow color. It’s quite cloudy with a good-sized white head. Tons of lacing. Big, fruity aroma that is full of hops. Blackberry, melon, tangerine, strawberry, mango, peach, papaya. It’s a nice mix of sweet berries and citrus with tropical fruit flavors. Just a tiny bit of simple malt sugariness in the background. Quite juicy. The taste comes off a bit grassy when the beer is cold, but as it warms up, the flavors open up and a huge juicy, fruity hoppiness comes out. It’s strawberry-mango-tangerine juice with a long peachy, citrus peel finish. Quite dry but soft and extremely pleasant. Moderate to medium bitterness - it creeps up some. Soft feel with nice hoppiness. Lovely beer.

I just start off by saying I loved this beer. An excellent IPA topped off with plenty of funky and a bit of sour. Nose was a mix of classic west coast hops and good ol' brett funk. Flavor was firmly bitter with nice malt background and a lingering sourness. Earthy, fruity, funky combo really hit all my nose and taste points. Overall, loved it.

On tap at Highland Park Brewery in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, tropical fruit, Brett, and funk aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus fruit, citrus zest, grapefruit juice, Brett, and funk flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop and Brett bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a great mix of hop and Brett characteristics that come through especially well in the taste.

Serving type: on tap.
