Brewed with a small portion of spelt malt for a subtle bready, nuttiness to balance the Australian Galaxy, South African J-17 and American Comet hops which all really pop due to the clean, restrained fermentation characteristics of our California ale yeast. This beer is lightly fined (finings are clarification agents) to help remove most of the yeast but keep as much hop and protein goodness in the beer as we can, lending this beer a softer mouthfeel and pungent, juicy aroma.

I really enjoyed this beer. The look is that killer unfiltered look, that Cellarmaker IPA's and Pale Ales are know for and I love it! The smell is awesome it's got that grapefruit, mango smell, that I love as well! In fact I liked this IPA so much that I bought two, 2 liters growlers of this great stuff and I'm glad I did because they no longer sell growlers of this beer.

5/12/16 @ Hop Grenade in Concord

L: Turbid and cloudy, dark straw/very light tan.
S: Resinous.
T: Tastes very good, although my seasonal allergies may have slightly affected this. To me, it tasted like it needed one more hop note for complexity. Bitterness was very firm and the finish was medium +.
F: Solid.
O: Overall, I think this is a solid IPA. Its tapping into the whole hazy IPA craze, and that's fine. I have to knock it on that aspect because if I were judging a beer according to current BJCP guidelines its a flaw. Its a little weird to drink a beer that looks like a vanilla protein shake with a scoop of peanut butter to darken it a little--but it tasted very good. The flavor seemed one "note" short of a beautiful chord. Its a good attempt for a new direction of IPA's so I have to applaud that.

Glad I tried it. I may revisit again in the future. Currently I prefer other Cellarmaker offerings.
