We aged our imperial stout, Vastness of Space, for six months in a barrel that previously held Trentadue Angelica (similar to Port) for six years. The resulting beer is immensely layered with aromas of tobacco, dried fig, coconut, toffee and cocoa. The flavor is rich yet supremely drinkable with hints of high percentage cacao, raisin and prune, winter spice and woody tannins. This is only available at Cellarmaker and was a single barrel so not much to go around.

Vastness of space aged 6 months in California Angelica barrel. Pours pitch black with dark mocha head. Nose of roast, oak, jam, and milk chocolate. Up front a pop of dark chocolate and espresso bitterness gives way to sweet milk chocolate, chewy malt, oak, vanilla and a burst of jammy fruit in the mid palate.
