Double IPA version of Moonage Daydream, our 100% Galaxy hopped pale ale. As you would guess, this DIPA is also singularly hopped with Galaxy. Instead of fermenting this with our California ale yeast, we used a more expressive yeast which compliments the dank, tropical notes of the Galaxy with pineapple and peach candy. If you love Galaxy hops, don't miss this offering!

Pours a hazy light orange with fine, soapy head.
Smell is juicy, fruity and crisp with notes of melon, citrus, pineapple and grass.
Taste is juicy, fruity and a bit spicy. Notes of pineapple, melon, citrus, pepper and pine. Intense with a solid bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft, pillowy and well carbonated.
Overall, a very nice DIPA, lacking a little bit of body.

22 oz can into nonic pint glass
Yellow, creamsicle appearance, poured it super cold so not a lot of head to speak of.
Aromas are dank, more citrusy than hoppy. Orange zest, lemon pepper.
Flavors follow but yield a caramelly, juicy aspect not in bouquet. Lots of orange essence without being ‘juicy’. Medium finish, super drinkable.

Full body, citrus, pine and caramel taste. I detected a slight acidic taste the beginning of each sip which led to a lower rating.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy cream white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Tropical and stone fruit, citrus, resinous pine, grassy, green, a hint of Southern Hem diesel, biscuity malt, and light caramel sweetness.
T: Punchy tropical, stone fruit, and citrus, grapefruit, big pineapple, passion fruit, peach, apricot, lemon, lime, and a hint of tangerine, resinous pine, slightly dank grassy earthy notes, a touch of Southern Hem diesel, biscuity malt, and a little light caramel sweetness.
M: A bit on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, a touch of hop burn.
O: You can tell the hopped the hell out of this one (8lbs/barrel). It slowly opens up, but there's a kinda rough interplay of bitterness and acidity up front, especially early on, that keeps me from rating it higher. I think a little more sweetness might help balance that and better show off all the cool fruity elements Galaxy brings. Still solid, but not my favorite thing from Cellarmaker, or Galaxy beer
(Looks like this batch used Cal Ale yeast instead of a previous, more expressive, strain. I'll keep my eyes open for the next time they brew this one for a revisit. Might have just been a less good batch.)
2024 Revisit: This can is a little softer, but it's still got plenty of bite, especially up front. Definitely stands out from other Galaxy beers, but it's still not my favorite.

16oz can. Poured out a very cloudy, golden orange color with good-sized, white head of fluffy foam. It left lots of sticky lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, pineapple, orange and toasted caramel. Sweet tropical fruit taste with a sharp bitterness and toasted caramel.

L: Vibrant yellow color. Murk appearance. Little head, moderate lacing. Love that color.
S: Very tropical. Passionfruit, papaya, banana, mango, and green apple come to mind. Fresh cut grass hop profile.
T: Very grassy with bountiful notes of stonefruit and citrus. Really nice. Simple and easy to drink. Earthy hop complexity. Not as juice-forward as the smell would lend but still great. Tastes a bit green, so I wager it tastes even better with a couple weeks on it.
F: Medium in body, light in weight. High amounts of carbonation, stretching the feel a tad thinner than it otherwise would be. No abv detection.
O: Nice. I would revisit and gladly drink again. I am very glad to try. Cheers!
