A tart wheat ale (aka session sour) utilizing certified organic strawberries grown by Rodriguez Brothers Ranch in Watsonville. We initially racked 4 oak barrels of sour beer on top of 800lbs of strawberries for an upcoming bottled beer for 5 days. After transferring the barrel aged sour off of the strawberries we knew that they still had a ton of flavor to give (as well as our house culture of yeast and bacteria) so we acted fast and brewed a simple wheat beer into the same tank. The wheat beer fermented on top of the 2nd use strawberries for 2 weeks and was then keg conditioned for 8 weeks. The resulting beer is absolutely crushable with a nice nuanced acidity, incredibly pungent strawberry aroma and potent strawberry flavor. This is a summer beer.
