L - Opaque golden yellow murk bomb. Didn't expect much; great retentive head, good lacing as it went down...
S - Holy moly; like the best of West Coast meets Pacific hops combo; dank pineapple, white grapes, dry resin, and an underlying forest floor pine impression. Dang.
T - This may be the best, "green" hop IPA I've had all year (2020, damn you) and I've had a LOT of beer this year. Tasting this was like tasting my first craft beer all.over.again. It's that good. Bone dry tropical grapefruit-pith-pine combo and it's just wondrous. Falls off a bitter, delicate cliff at the end, in a good way. Honestly. This is bonkers.
F - Great mouthfeel, fantastic carb, drying note at the end with a good bitter zing to it. Perfect as a beer gets for me.
O - my nominee for west coast beer of the year. I don't say that lightly. Cellarmaker better keep this one on the books FOREVER. Wow.

 

 

 

 

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass

A: Pours hazy golden yellow with a frothy cream white head that settles to a firm layer and laces very nicely.

S: Nelson jumps out first, supported by a strong mix of citrus, tropical and stone fruit, Southern Hem diesel, grassy herbal notes, a touch floral, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Mix of citrus, tropical, exotic, and stone fruit, gooseberry, tangerine, mango, guava, starfruit, apricot, peach, papaya, white grape, lemon lime, grapefruit, and a hint of pineapple, floral, light green grassy herbal notes, a touch of Southern Hem diesel, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, somewhat soft on the palate.

O: I love my Southern Hem hops and this one shows off pretty much everything they bring to the table. Dangerously close to NEIPA territory, but who cares.

A Diesel Dank treat for the senses.
This unfiltered brew presents well in the glass with a pillow-y head of foam.
The diesel dank aroma is pronounced and this follows through on the tongue along with a cornucopia of ripe fruits. The mouth reports a soft and smooth experience.
When one finds this on the shelf it is best to purchase.

Can dated 01/10/22 into tulip glass.

Very Nelson-diesel heavy. Wanted more breadth of flavor and aroma. Really nice soft mouthfeel.

The brewer coyly calls this a "Hazy West Coast IPA," but it's a murky and juicy slush bomb. Also acidic and all it needs is some lactose to make it a milkshake. Tastes of orange peel, orange juice, and, I guess that's it. Aroma is fruity with melon and citrus. Maybe other stuff but it makes my throat hurt.

Overall this is not bad as these New England hazies go. But after a few sips I'm done with it. I don't get using such interesting and likely pricey hops for such a harsh concoction. From the 16 oz can purchased at Healthy Spirits. Dated, amazingly, 01/10/22.
