We love New Zealand Nelson Sauvin. It is by far our favorite hop. No other hop has such a wide range of aromas and flavors so it’s perfect for a single hop beer like this. We used three different lots of Nelson (different acres and blends) in this beer that we hand selected while in NZ from a singular farm to show off Nelson’s best qualities of white grape, melon and pineapple.

11/03/25 - not so fresh. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Hazy gold with 1-2 finger white frothy head with good retention and lacing.
S: Tart berry, green melon, and grassy herbal slightly minty character
T: Flavor is dank and musky with herbal dank grassy notes, berry, and melon. Bitterness is moderate-high.
M: Light-medium body with dry finish.
O: A pretty good Nelson-oriented IPA - wish it had been fresher.

Hazy, tangerine yellow-orange body; thick, rocky head with sharp cuts of foam; huge, sticky sheets and legs of foam inside the glass. Nice aroma; pungent Nelson Sauvin nose; grape skin; earthy melon. Nicely balanced taste; cantaloupe and grape must; subliminal oat-like flavor; moderate overall bitterness. Medium-heavy mouthfeel; smooth and velvety; semi-juicy with a slow-developing dryness towards the finish.
A very nice, easy drinking hazy India pale ale featuring 100% Nelson Sauvin hops.
Pouring temperature: 43 °F; canning info: NEW LABEL WHO DIS? 10/10/22

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Smooth gooseberry supported with the classic white grape and some tropical and stone fruit, a hint of citrus, floral notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Gooseberry leads, as expected, backed with a bit more tropical and stone fruit, apricot, pineapple, guava, white grape, light melon, and a touch of grapefruit, a hint of Southern Hem diesel, floral notes, biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.
O: It's so refreshing to have a more nuanced Nelson beer that's smooth and approachable, not just beating you over the head with as much as they could pack in. Every edge has been rounded and a lot of the more subtle flavors get a chance to come out and play. This is the kinda beer you sip while you read poetry under a shady tree in the park.

Hooo boy, this is gonna be a highly rated beer. Glad I was able to get a 4 pack without going into the city, yay unintended economic bloodletting consequences. Looks like the pic was taken at the back spot at Little Bend.
Pours a cloudy yellow, brighter than average. 1/3" white head. Holy hell does this smell good. Dank diesel, stinky weed, guava. Gooseberry? I wouldn't know. Has a much crisper vibe than it does appearance.
Taste somehow is similarly awesome. The dankest weed smuggled in a diesel container. But you need some energy for that long haul trucker job, so you got that dank white grape and blueberry cycle in that trail mix. Unlike the Kool & The Gang song "Too Hot" this is like drinking 7% water in terms of its ease. Light citrus rind impression with minimal bitterness and acidity.
Shocking enough, I had one of these like 3-4 months old and it was still better than 95% of ipas out there. So here's the deal, this rivals old school Alpine Nelson and Altamont's Nelson Fuel (lager). I got a Treehouse Nelson ready to go tonight, so that might compare, but this is God tier Nelson ipa.

Sweet white wine grape, subdued grapefruit citrus, and faint hint of Nelson hop dank nose on this one! Taste follows with a crushable and juicy, citrus hoppy, and hint of dank finish. This is really tasty and enjoyable to drink...it's just, the hops are a little more subdued than I was hoping for here. I drank this 3 weeks out from canning date...which doesn't seem too long. But, sometimes, particularly with Nelson hops, there is a rapid fall off and a difference in taste and aromatics from when it is fresh versus a few weeks down the line. This is still good stuff though!
