Had this at the September '21 football home opener tailgate. 1st review of this beer on BA. Carson Strong is the best Nevada QB ever.
Pours an amber color. Bottle had me thinking something purple-y blue was coming at me. Power of suggestion. But if you look at the type of amber hue, I can see that purple/blue color scheme having a light influence in the overall amber portfolio of appearance.
Aroma of wild bacteria, blueberries, wine-ish-ness grape ape. Not sure I'm agreeing with this being a kettle sour in light of it being a barrel aged beer. This is what happens when you incentivize adding a beer but not reviewing it, just a rush to add it without accurate information.
Taste was nice, had a restrained wild ale approach thankfully, somewhat like those wild ale saison hybrids given the nice sawft mouth feel and lack of acidity or pronounced sourness. Subtle be the word. Good carbonation.
I liked the beer, we had a similar beer paired with it, (Blurred PsM: Rare Barrel) that was stronger in its sourness and fruitiness. I dunno, I appreciate these session like gems on a tailgate day, its a marathon not a sprint.
