This is just coffee in beer form. Beer is just the vehicle we chose to get our coffee fix, much like ketchup on some fries or cream cheese on that shitty bagel. This coffee porter features a rotating cast of coffee roasters. For this round we selected Oakland’s Mother Tongue Coffee. After tasting through a selection of their coffees, the Bittersweet blend caught our attention the most for its classic chocolate, caramel and warming spice characteristics.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery snifter
A: Pours dark chocolate brown with a frothy beige head that settles to a nice layer and leaves a little light lacing.
S: Roasty, solid hit of coffee, some peppery spice, dark chocolate, a bit earthy, a hint of vanilla, and a touch of toffee sweetness.
T: Bold coffee, a little peppery spice, roasty malt, a hint of smoke, a bit earthy, dark chocolate, a hint of vanilla, and a little toffee sweetness.
M: A little on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Not sure how this can hid in the fridge for so long, but it's held up rather well. I had a different variant on tap before that was one of the best coffee beers I've had, and even less than fresh this isn't too far behind it. Would love to see this one brought back.

Clear, dark brown body; thick, light khaki hued head, dense and rich texture; nice rings of foam inside the glass. Coffee aroma permeates the nose; dark roast. Rich malt flavors infused with coffee notes; lightweight espresso; heavy bitterness throughout; mild chocolate notes. Heavy body; smooth and silky; semi-dry with coffee notes.
Definitely a bold coffee themed beer dressed up in a mild porter beer base. Nice.
