This was our first in-house Munichwine brew which has been aging in Weller and Blanton’s bourbon barrels for 14 months. Ever since we tried some of Private Press Brewing’s initial batches of Munichwine, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the day to release our own version of this divine liquid. You can expect all of the toffee, cherry cordial, almond liqueur and maple drizzle that we’re starting to expect from a beer with such a high percentage of toasty Munich barley malt.

Thanks, Chris, Cassidy.
While the deeply caramelized Munich malt is most prominent, there's a deep dark fruit character along with a rich, bready melanoidin malt character with rich bourbon, mild oak and nice vanilla. Lighter on the leather and tobacco notes. Not as good as the Private Press Munichwine, with the added cocoa a little distracting.

Bottle at share. Dark brown pour with a small tan head. Boozy aroma, almond, pit fruit, vanilla. Taste comes with a nice helping of bourbon, caramel, prunes, woody. Thick, creamy.

Poured from a bottle at fridge temp. Pours very dark brown with literally no head. The nose is sweet toffee, molasses, brown sugar, bourbon, honey, some vanilla, and some figs.
The taste is fantastic. It's sweet, but not too sweet. More in line with an American barleywine as it has a citrus peel bitterness combined with huge notes of toffee. Some roasted malts, charred wood, pine, chocolate, and a sharp woody bourbon note. Almost a bit too hot on the alcohol side, but it levels off as it warms.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste is a boozy mix of toffee and citrus peel. The alcohol is definitely noticeable on this.

Sweet brown sugary malty, hint of caramel covered raisins, and hint of bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows with some caramel sweet malts upfront...and then, a balanced bourbon barrel finish. Yum! This is good! My only knock is I wish the mouthfeel had a little more viscosity to it...but, that's just a personal preference thing. I had this one draft as well and, this is much better out of the bottle! Fantastic!
