Fellow pizza and broccoli fiends Other Half Brewing collaborated with us on this hot and ready IPA that is bursting at the crust with the best hops in our arsenal. We worked closely with Papa Sam Richardson of Other Half to select fire Galaxy, Nelson, Strata and HBC 586 and roll them together into an open-faced calzone of ridiculous hop flavor and aroma.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass

A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy eggshell head that settles to a firm layer and laces very nicely.

S: Southern Hem diesel, resinous pine, spicy grassy herbal notes, zesty citrus, exotic, tropical, and stone fruit, berries, slightly dank earthy notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Resinous pine, spicy herbal notes, citrus zest and juice, grapefruit, orange, lemon, and lime, exotic, tropical, and stone fruit, gooseberry, mango, peach, apricot, passion fruit, pineapple, blueberry, strawberry, white grape, and guava, pungent Southern Hem diesel, slightly dank grassy earthy undertones, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: A touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate with a surprising lack of hip burn.

O: If there are two breweries that deliver on hop intensity it's CM & OH, so it's no surprise that with their forces combined they bring some big time hoppiness. It's almost like they set themselves a challenge to take some of the most distinctly pungent hops, throw them together, and make a cohesive beer out of them, and they did it. The first few sips are a bit of a punch in the tongue, but it opens up to reveal a ton of depth. That initial resinous wall softens but never fully goes away, offering more of a countering rather than a balancing force. I picked up discernable flashes of each hop and what it brings, but they really do all come together nicely. Definitely a uniquely special beer.
