A showcase for Tangier hops from Hollingbery & Sons, and we’re not holding back. 100% Tangier, all day. This new variety is all the rage for good reason: bright citrus and tangerine that just pops. We kept the malt profile super light to let the hop do its thing. Crisp, clean, and citrus-forward. Sometimes one hop is all you need.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours fairly hazy golden yellow with a frothy cream white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves a little nice lacing.
S: Citrus zest and juice, like peeling an orange right off the tree, a bit grassy, floral notes, a little vanilla, biscuity bready malt, and just a touch of sweetness.
T: Ripe zesty citrus, orange and tangerine run the show with a hint of lemon, a bit grassy and slightly floral, a little underlying vanilla cream, bready biscuity malt, and a touch of sweetness.
M: A touch on the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: I've noticed beers featuring Tangier hops starting to appear but this is the first single hop one I've come across, so I was stoked to try it and get an unobstructed view of what it brings to the table. Definitely all about the orange with some nice minor supporting notes, though I don't think anyone would describe it as overly complex. It's handled quite nicely here, definitely getting its chance to shine, threading the needle of being West Coast hoppy but not overly bitter while also being a bit soft without turning into juice. While it's probably not the most exciting option on the board, it hits the spot on a spring day; dare I say better than a number of classic Cascade driven pale ales. Continued to grow on me as my glass emptied and really has me looking forward to more beers featuring Tangier.
