Really dark brown, almost full-on black. No head whatsoever.
On the other hand, it smell quite nice. Rich chocolate, roasted, almost smokey malts, black licorice, faint vanilla, bit of coffee powder. Didn't expect this.
Roast dominates from the start, nice and smokey. Scotch malt in here? Can't read it on the label (literally can't), but the taste does bring some, that dry grainy feel, touched by a bit of peat. Chocolate too, cream and a light dark cherry sourness that might actually be from this being a bit old, but it's really subtle so it doesn't matter. Plum juice. Finishes with a really nice coffee note, some roasted bread, a bit dry.
A dark fruit zing lingers in the aftertaste, but mostly burnt bread, cocoa powder, bit of coffee powder and (oh, wow) faint scotch. Medium to light body, almost watery, almost flat.
A huge surprise after so many mediocre (and less than) Hungarian craft beers. Nothing incredible, but something that's almost there, if it weren't for some elementary mistakes (body and appearance are a mess, to be honest).

Thanks to drewone for sharing this one at his tasting.
Pours a murky dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, peat, smoke, and adhesive bandage aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, peat, and smoke flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and smoke bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with interesting peat and smoke qualities that I wasn't expecting.
Serving type: bottle.
