Nice dark hazy amber with finger width head with 2 layers of lacing, not a very strong smelling ipa, hit with a taste of citrus and a slow mellow bitterness but not to strong quite delicious

From the over age bottle purchased for a super price at Table and Vine, it pours a nice hazy amber with a really nice light tan head. The head lasts a bit and leaves a bit of lace. Some light scent of citrus in the nose. The taste is primarily malt with some bitterness. Pleasant.

BERKSHIRE RIVER VALLEY ALE 8/5/16

A bomber exclusive which Berkshire makes for a local liquor chain.

a: Semi-clear orange with an inch and a half thick white head which receded to persistently thick surface foam and exceptionally dense lacing.

s: Floral and a bit of citrus.

t; Follows the nose with a light to moderate hop bite and a bready malt base which becomes more prominent as it warms.

m; Medium, very good body and good carbonation tingle.

o: Leaning more to an American IPA than the stated English style, although the Goldings hops do provide more floral than citrus/pine flavor. A really exceptional session IPA which I'd prefer over the Berkshire flagship Steel Rail, if not their darker and more deliciously woody Lost Sailor. Worthy of its own can 12 pack.

This beer had a nice deep yellow body, and two finger head that held up for a while. It was quite appealing.

Complex aroma... pine and pineapple in the hops, caramel and biscuits from the malts. Don't get pineapple scents that often. Even more appealing than the appearance.

Taste was very good as well. There was a quick bitter flash, followed by smooth caramel malts. The finish was lightly bitter and not overpowering.

Mouthfeel was smooth as listed, not thin, and well carbonated.

Overall I like this one quite a bit. Only available at Big Y supermarkets, and Table and Vine in West Springfield.
