Described to me as a "Work In Progress", thus the W.I.P. monicker. This beer uses experimental hops--"some of which haven't been named yet."
Modest head from the bar pour. It leaves a single ring of lace and strings thereafter. The liquid is cloudy with a dark amber color.
Dusty smell of a dirt road. I detect a touch of chocolate.
A bit sweet and a bit earthy, but this works well. It's different and delicious--a hard thing to achieve. Very full body with a muted carbonation level. The swallow is a combination of all of the above experiences with a heightened bitterness. The aftertaste is smooth and well balanced.
This is a remarkable beer that I encourage you to keep an open eye for it. I had it in Mead Hall in Cambridge on August 22, 2015.
