Dark ruby pour with thin off-white top. Aromas are molasses, dark fruit and s slight smokiness. Flavors are similar with peat/smoke becoming more pronounced. Good sweet malt, and very smooth despite slightly high carbonation. Pretty good offering.

Bought at McKinnon's in Salem, NH. Wanted to try something new today.
L- Brown, more on the ruby/mahogany side. Thin head that dissipates quickly, nice lacing. (4.25)
S- I get a ton of grapes, like Juicy Juice fruit punch, weird. Malt undertones, maybe a whiff or two of smoke as well. (3.5)
T- Taste follows smell. Some slight booze towards the end as well as a smidge or two of phenols. (3.5)
F- This is easy drinking stuff, a bit of booze towards the finish but otherwise very palatable. (4)
O- Wee heavys are a beer I want to like, given my Scottish heritage, but I have yet to find one that really stands out as "amazing". This is decent though, better than Woodstock's wee heavy for sure. (3.75)

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on July 9, 2015.
The pour is brown with reddish hues under a lingering tan head.
I like those traditional toffee and roasted malt sweet notes on the nose peppered with tobacco or peat moss.
Medium to heavy and slick body.
The taste has a vibrant malt sweetness with this senses clearing alcohol warmth that roars in on the backside, simmers momentarily, and fades.

Looks. A muddy brown (unfiltered?) with a thin head.
Smell. Starts kind of beery, but eventually I got to a molasses, earthy aroma.
Taste. Rich, sweet maltiness, very little hops, mildly dry at the end.
Mouth feel. Nice rolling rich body, mildly puckery at the end. Good robust feel, about medium heavy texture.
Overall. I do like the dark, malts, though this might be a tad too sweet, also seemed more straightforward than complex. But I do like it.
