Had this offering on tap at Pitchers Pub in Cumberland, RI. Poured a dark brownish amber color. Nice ruby hints of color coming through. Thin off-white head. Mild lacing down the glass. Smell was of caramel malt with alcohol esters. The slight caramel tone with some subtle hints of some spice mixed in(???). They had it listed as Scotch Ale but this was not a Wee Heavy. Especially being served in a pint glass. This beer was rather easy to drink. Nice malt flavors up front giving way to some bitterness and a nice caramel sweetness. Almost reminded me of an E.S.B. without the chewiness. Certainly had some nice balance between the sweetness of the malt, the hop bitterness and alcohol taste. One was enough for me. Not my favorite offering from BBC but still a nice representation of the style.

On tap at Cambridge House, Granby CT
Chestnut colored with a half-inch frothy and dimpled beige head that slowly recedes, but leaves some lacy fingers reaching up the sides of the glass.
Very low aroma of sweet malt. A very even and smooth mouthfeel leads to rich flavors of malty sweetness, but not overly sweet. Caramel and toffee mixes in with marshmallow and light brown sugar. Very balanced, not cloying. Good example of the style, very enjoyable.
