This stout pours into the pint glass thick and brown-black, like coal. The head is big and brown and settles to a full cover with major lacing in its wake. The aroma gives off a thick cloud of charcoal malt with milk chocolate complements. Very deep and delicious. The flavor comes on with solid charcoal, a bit of fireplace smoke and vague hints of dark chocolate. It’s not particularly complex but it’s very solid and with a medium body and mild carbonation it’s quite drinkable for a stout. Feel is between glassy and resinous. Overall this is a nice effort from The Mountain.

A: A fair amount of head over dark brown falls to whisps.
T: Not much complexity. The malts tasted burnt and no noticeable hops. I thought it was tolerable, the several people who also tried it claimed it was good. But I love stouts and this is a bad example.
M: Medium. If anything, a touch watery.
D: Low, as the taste wasn't great.
O: Not something to bother with. Not horrible, but not worth it.
