On-tap 10/31/2013 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI served in a US pint glass.

A: The beer is a dark golden brown color, with a medium off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma contains wheat, caramelized malts, some citrus and some hops.

T: The taste starts out very bready with flavors of wheat and mildly smoked malts. Then some faint caramel sweetness comes in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, even though there are better choices in the style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while.

A very interesting beer for sure. It is brewed with no barley so it has a very strong wheat presence that actually tends to overpower the flavor of the hops. It pours a nice deep amber color with an off white head that quickly disappears. The majority of the flavors I get are from the strength of the wheat and they simply over power any hops in the body. Mostly a mild grapefruit and slight toasted sweetness. It has an extremely mild hoppy finish, sitting more in slightly floral realm rather than the bitter end of the spectrum with a bit more of the wheat bite showing up.
