Pours hazy, gold in color with half inch head. Taste is cereal, pilsner malt, and a touch of white sugar. Light bodied, low carbonation and sweet. Drinks like a kolsch. Decent, but a bit flat in flavor. Have had better in both styles.

Braumanufactur Alt-Bamberg "Alt-Bamberg Zwickl"
,5l brown glass bottle, "Mindeshens halter bis Ende: 11.07.2018..." and sampled on 18.09.2017
,79€ @ City-Mark, Bamberg, DE
Look: Hazy deep amber body beneath a massive head of white that slowly drops to a two-finger-thick creamy cap, and then eventually to a thin surface covering. The lacing left behind is quite nice with torn sheets and craggy splashes.
Smell: Mild aroma of bready and caramlish malt.
Taste: Grainy, bready and lightly caramelish malt is accentuated by a light fruitiness thats not particularly like any fruit in general but if one had to be chosen it probably be apple. A moderate bitterness balances it, leaving it mainly dry but with a touch of sweetness at the start of the finish. Light, delicate herbal hops then emerge, lingering shortly.
Feel: Medium-light in body and initially crisp but then much smoother once warmed a bit.
Overall: Quite pleasant. Easy drinking basic lager.

From the bottle, it pours amber with a small head, quickly diminishing to barely a ring. Malt in the nose. The mouth enjoys the bready and some caramel malt flavor.
2017 Update: Head lasts a reasonable amount of time.

Bottle shared by Lyn Friday night, thanks for the opportunity!
Deep golden color with a frothy white head. Rich malty aroma and flavor with plenty of bready pils and caramelized malt sugars present. Very tasty.

Half litre bottle,
poured into handled Alt Bamberg handed mug.
A: Pale amber, hazy, medium head, moderate retention, plus a few floaters.
S: Cork with real farmyard style aroma, lots of hay.
T: Very bready, notes of wheat and slightly sour fruits.
M: Minimal carbonation, smooth, slightly thick texture.
O: Nothing overly memorable but a fairly solid offering.

500ml bottle served in a pilsener glass (thanks Rian!). Pours a burnt-orange hue with a translucent clarity and a fluffy, one-inch, bright white head. Clean nose - cereal grains and a light, grassy quality as well as a touch of malty sweetness at the back. Taste follows nose with a bit more cereal grain sweetness and sour mash at the back and just a kiss of noble hops in the middle. Mouthfeel is light and lively with a pleasant carbonation and a crisp finish. Overall, a very good kellerbier in my opinion and all the better for it being fresh. I've become such a fan of Franconian beers and this beer did not disappoint.

Had this on tap in Bamberg, and while I am a fan of the dunkel from this brewery, this one did not hit the spot. It was served in a stone krug, so I can't say much regarding the appearance besides that it had very little foam which lingered for quite some time. The smell and taste honestly reminded me of American Lager; not much except for sweet, grassy, weak malt. The mouthfeel wasn't great either; heavily carbonated for a Keller. I am a big fan of the style and have enjoyed other samplings from this brewery, but this beer really missed the mark.
