Had this at the source in June 2014. Pours a golden yellow color familiar to most style of beer, 1/4" white head. Pretty cool mix of dry hopping giving lots of fruity citrus notes familiar to ipas and a puckering sour quality that comes in stronger than your average wild ale.

Taste is familiar to the usual base beer of Rare Barrel sour blondes, but the use of dry hopping totally gives it a new spin on an otherwise common similarity to their base blonde beer. Lots of lemon sour notes. Doesn't push the beer as a sour ipa, its really just the aroma that the hops come out, they aren't there as much in the mouth feel, thankfully. Zesty and well carbonated on tap. Its super enjoyable and easy to drink. The only thing that would keep me from crushing multiples of these is the amped up sourness and acidity, but man, 10oz of it sure does work. Bring your antacid. I do appreciate the abv not being all imperialized on this one.

On tap at the brewery.

Golden orange color.

The hops show in this beer. It is juicy hoppy. Citrusy. More funk shows in this one. Fairly dry. Lots of lemon juice and peel.

Decent, but not a fan of the hops and sour mix. Still someone drinkable.

undoubtedly my favorite beer i had at the great american beer festival. truly unforgettable and wildly unique, with a zesty hopping that has to be galaxy or amarillo or something near it. its a golden base beer, simple looking really, with a ring of white lace around the glass and an aroma of fresh sliced peaches and sticky dank high alpha hops. the sourness seems both like mature brett and warm lacto, a cool combination that keeps the hops insanely fresh, but doesnt let bitterness really arise in this. the interplay between the wild yeast, the generous hops, and the time spent in oak is a wonderful combination, and while it sounds simple in words here, the synergy of these ingredients is literally indescribably delicious. its so dynamic and expressive, its hoppy in a way i dont ever think about hops, beyond fruity or bitter or vegetal, its almost spiritual in a way, soulful and like nothing else. the sour ramps up on the finish, leaving the palate real dry, but watering for more, another neat sensation. carbonation is right where it should be, and the overall impression i took away from this is that it is up there with the best wild ales i have ever had. no clue if this is packaged at all, but i need to taste this again. so special, world class no doubt.

Growler into tulip.

A: Pours a cloudy dirty lemon color with a finger or two of white head that faded into a fuzzy film and collar. Stringy lace was left down the glass.
S: Earthy yeast and dry oak barrel mix with sweet tropical and citrus hops expertly well. The nose is hoppy and vibrant with perfumey hops, earthy light funk, pineapple, and a touch of mint.
T: More tart than nose let on. Lightly acidic with a sharp lactic bite. Lemon and grapefruit juice with a touch of peach. Lemon and dough in the finish, with a buttery oaky funk in the aftertaste.
M: Medium body, tart, greasy mouthfeel. Not super dry, not super tart. Good bite to it though. Mellow carbonation.
O: Delicious. I was expecting a touch more hops but this is balanced and works well. Easy drinking, but could be drier. I dig it. Solid bitterness.

EDIT: Had batch 2 on tap a few times and I'm getting a lot more tropical and floral hops. The sweet and fragrant hops are working better with the sour than my above review. Overall, I enjoyed it much more than the first time I had it, and have bumped up my review as such.

Served at the brewery in a tulip glass.

A: Slightly hazy gold. Little to no head.

S: Mmmm. The Amarillo hops are apparent. Strongly aromatically hoppy. Very bitter. Lightly fruity.

T: Incredible. Great blend of light tartness, hoppy acidity, and well-bittered. Smack worthy finish with hint of Hoppiness.

M: Tart and refreshing pleasant.

O: interesting and unique. I love this. Highly recommended. Will have again.

From a growler. Pours a cloudy golden amber with a small white head that settles pretty quickly and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is a lot of grapefruit. There is also a bit of lemon and a slight earthiness. The initial taste is tart with a bit of sweetness, a bunch of grapefruit, and a little lemon. A little bit of hay as well. Finish is tart with a bit of bitterness as well. Medium body. Low carbonation. Leaves a bit of a strange smarties aftertaste that is a little unpleasant to me.

This is the second batch made of this beer. Reviewing from a growler pour.

An aggressive pour into a TRB tulip glass produces a small head that dissipates to a ring. The foam replenishes after some initial sips, and there is some threadlike lacing, but foaming action peters out quickly. The beer itself is a transparent, hazy, yellow-gold.

Smells of green herbs (I'd say close to dried basil) which, overlaid on the fruit notes, brings to my mind pizza, which probably would be great to pair with this beer.

Tastes of lacto sourness with a lot of orange/tangerine flavor mid palate, finishing with basil/green herb and a bit of citrus rind. It is not bitter though.

Light body, pleasant palate coating sourness, it has a light and refreshing mouthfeel. Carbonation diminishes progressively.

The zesty orange sourness and green herb notes dry hopping with Amarillo hops works surprisingly well with the lacto-sour base beer to make a satisfying and interesting lightly-fizzed, hoppy fruit-punch kind of beer. I think it is an interesting experiment.
