Dubious Affair is a dark sour aged in oak barrels with traces of black currants, Italian plums, and apricots. With hints of those fruits and a subtle, yet complex, acetic acid profile.

Growler poured into snifter.
A: Pours a very dark mahogany color with a finger of active foam that fizzed away into a bubbly collar that lasted the whole glass through.
S: I get tart and semi-sweet hints of blueberries, plums, cranberries, and currants. There is a light musty quality to the nose and just the fainest hint of stone fruit and acid. The plum, currant, musty earthy yeast/barrel and acidic bite are the most noticeable to me though.
T: Brighter in acidity and maybe even complexity than most of their other beers. All the fruits from the nose are present including currant, plum, and berry. The finish is semi-sweet with plum flavor, and the aftertaste has a lingering buttery currant flavor mixed with spicy yeast. The acidity level is perfect as there is no harshness or overly tart or sour flavors.
M: The body is on the fuller side of medium, with frothy but creamy carbonation that bubbles up on my palate. The mouthfeel is heavy and slick with a touch of greasy, buttery, oak. The finish is dry but not a desert. No gritty tannins, the acidic is bright and scrubbing, and each sip makes you want to drink more.
O: One of their more complex flavor profiles in my opinion. While not my favorite from them, it’s hard to find fault with the flavors and execution of this beer. Definitely worth checking out.
