Consumed: 10.16.15
A: 4.5 Really pretty reddish brown. Quite clear with not much head.
S: 4.25 Pretty mild but with some really interesting elements. Tart cherries and lemon start off then move into funk and lightly charred oak. There's also an herb/mineral quality in the background.
T: 4.25 Nicely balanced between sweet and tart at first bringing in some of the elements from the nose ( but dialed back a bit). Lemony tartness lingers and becomes more intense on the clean, dry finish.
M: 4.25 Feel is nice with good carbonation.
O: 4.25 Another solid beer from New Belgium/ Rare Barrel as one would expect. It seems like the barrel might be adding some more unique flavors, but it gets a bit lost in the blend.

This pours a ruby tinged amber in the glass. Light tart sour cherry aroma turns into a full intense sour flavor. This was good. Fortunate to get a full pint pour at the Tour de Fat’s stop. Wish I could have had a second one.

On-tap at TRB, 10oz snifter.
A:Served a slightly opaque reddish brown with a thin ring of foam. Spotty soapy lace.
S: Nose is full of sweet cherry juice balanced by a nice musty complexity along with hints of gritty cherry skins. Clean lactic tartness is bright with a light acidity.
T: Super complex, tart, and tannic with tons of cherry and cherry pits and skins, semisweet fruit juice, and hints of caramel and raisin. I get notes of buttery oak and sour candy sweetness in the finish. Mild cola flavors.
M: Tingly and bright carbonation that has a nice creamy chew to it after it sits on your palate for a few seconds. Super dry and very tannic and gritty mouthfeel that makes me thirsty. Medium body.
O: Reminds me of their first On the Shoulders with Giants cherry sour. Nice complex depth and flavor to this one. Very dry but drinks very well.
