Dubious Nights is a dark sour beer aged in charred and non-charred tequila barrels. This blend displays notes of dark chocolate, agave, and tart cherries with hints of vanilla and plums.
The third release in the Dubious Series, four tequila barrels were used for Dubious Nights. Each very distinct from one another, these barrels developed intriguing flavors for over a year. Puzzled with how to use these barrels without compromising their unique characteristics, this beer spent many nights awaiting its outcome until a dubious blend surprised us all.

On-tap at TRB.
A: Served a deep ruddy brown with a lingering cap of tiny bubbles. No lace.
S: Dark fruit, red berry, barrel spice, vanilla, very mild tequila.
T: Fantastic and complex flavor mixture of dark fruits, stone fruits, vanilla, dough, and a hint of tequila. Dark fruits upfront with notes of dates and sweet figs. I get a berry-like quality in the finish, blueberry and boysenberry almost, with hints of peach and plum in the middle. The tequila is very mild and more noticeable upfront whereas the finish is full of vanilla, black currents, and a clean lactic sourness with a few gritty tannins. The aftertaste is vanilla that has an almost cream flavor to it. The profile is awesome and reminds me of berries-in-cream, or something I can't put my finger on. Current is a flavor that seems to stick out though.
M: Medium body, on the chewier side, crisp and fuzzy carbonation that softens on my palate. Juicy up front with fruit flavors but dry finish with a kiss of gritty tannins. The tartness is similar to cranberry in quality.
O: Fantastic flavor profile. Vanilla and berry taste is delicious and amazing since neither of those ingredients is actually in the beer. Loving the aftertaste which lingers long after the swallow.
