On-tap at the brewery, 10oz tulip.
A: Dark lemon golden with a thin bubble cap white foam. Tons of spotty lace.
S: I get notes of gin on the nose with hints of peppery spice and tart acid.
T: Lavender hits first along with the base golden sour notes of crisp wheat and pale grainy backbone. The gin barrel imparts nice herbal flavors of juniper and botanicals, and I get creamy notes of vanilla, buttery oak, and a hint of stone fruit as well. The lemon rounds out the finish with a soft splash of citrus that isn't overly harsh or acidic. Flavors of lemon, vanilla, and doughy yeast linger in the aftertaste along with a hint of gin. Peppery spice throughout.
M: Medium body with a thicker, slicker, mouthfeel that has a nice chew to it. Drying finish with a few gritty tannins, but not thirst-creatingly dry. Tartness is refreshing, smooth, and easy. Not a crazy lactic bomb.
O: Drinks well. Was surprised how strong the initial taste of lavender was. Adds a complementary flavor to the botanical and spicy gin barrel and citrus. Very smooth as well with a pleasant creaminess and chewiness to the mouthfeel.
