Tulip at THG.
A: Pours a dark ruddy brown with a cap of dark tan foam.
S: Tart notes of acidic red fruits mixed with char, dark chocolate, chicory, roast, and burnt wood.
T: Very unique and interesting flavor profile. Hints of red berries and tart fruits from the dark sour base poke through the dominate cocao which imparts notes of bitter dark chocolate, coffee, chicory, and roast. I get a touch of ash as well in the finish, with a bitter and slightly burnt flavor in the aftertaste that mixes with the lingering fruity acidity. Slight green bell pepper.
M: Medium body, tight fizzy carbonation, easy to drink. The low tartness is balanced/overshadowed by the bitter dark chocolate presence and the idea of char.
O: Very unique and raw tasting. Not my favorite, one of few from the brewery I don't want to go for seconds.
