On-tap at the brewery.
A: Dark mahogany color with a thin cap of fuzzy light brown foam. A thin collar persisted throughout. Wispy lace was left down the glass.
S: Huge cinnamon and clove nose with hints of vanilla and dried fruit. Slightly musty and earthy smelling, but mostly just a ton of spice.
T: Very spice forward with easily noticeable notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and clove. Nutmeg and woody, almost spruce, notes bring up rear, with current, a hint of cranberry, and a hint of caramel in the aftertaste. I get a mild bitterness in the finish as well that is almost citrus pith in nature. Tartness is mellow but has a nice acidic bite in the finish that quickly disappears after the swallow. Interesting dried fruit type of quality to the flavor. Vanilla lingers long after the swallow.
M: Not super drying, some lingering sweetness, mild bitterness, mild acidity. Medium-full body, smooth and soft carbonation that foams up a bit on my palate. Finish is drying though, has a citrus rind bitterness. Mildly tannic.
