16oz can into tulip.
A: Pours a chalky pastel brownish-orange color full of murky yeast beneath a large, soapy, off-white head that slowly bubbled away into a frothy collar. A couple small chunks of lace were left down the glass.
S: Huge juicy fresh citrus notes bursting with kumquat, grapefruit, mandarin orange and lime zest. Scents of orange creamsicle along with hints of creamy brett and light tart lactic acid.
T: All the juicy fruity dry hopped nose steps aside to make way for more leafy, vegetal, and earthy flavors on the plate. There’s a lot of medicinal bitterness going on that overpowers a kiss of sweet citrus juice. Finish is full of earthy yeast, brett, and tons of leafy/herbal flavors. The aftertaste is bitter and has hints of tobacco leaf.
M: Full body, soft, thick, and chewy mouthfeel with a kiss of tartness and a punch of leafy/ aspirin bitterness. Carbonation is fluffy and soft but the tartness gives the illusion of a sharper texture.
O: Smells amazing, looks like a typical chowder ipa (not great), and tastes just ok. I do like the idea of blending an ipa with a barrel aged sour, but this isn't as good as some others they make.
