Tart Saison-Style Beer Aged in Oak Barrels with Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo Grapes

After processing the grape clusters from our Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, we used fresh beer to capture the flavor that would otherwise have been wasted and left in the skins. Blurred CsT is a tart saison echoed on wine grapes and aged in oak. The resulting blend is a beverage with low tannin, light body, and a touch of acidity. Hints of cherry blossom, melon, and dried figs highlight the unique qualities that fresh, whole grapes can contribute.

A: Poured into a tulip to a light reddish orange beer which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger and a half of light pink head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of horseblankety funk, peppery spice, red berries, oak and a touch of lemony tartness
T: Taste is funk up front with a hint of band aids, red berries, light tartness, peppery spice and a hint of oak. On the finish there's more tartness, dark red berries, horseblanket, slight band aids and lingering peppery spice with a touch of leather
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of medium. Carbonation is slightly prickly and effervescent while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is a really nice beer. It has good flavors and a nice amount of balanced complexity which I felt was lacking in a few of the other Blurred beers I've tried so far.

Pretty much clear ruby red with dark tinting, no head. Lots of brett, funk, and grape must right up front in the nose, grapes, red wine, oak, and earthy blackberry follow. Very light grape skins, with heavier handed must are the stars here, vinous and oak support, peach, cherry, brett, hints of mellow flowers on the finish. Feel is very light, vinous, funky, and has a kiss of acid. A technical beer
