NACHTical ILLUSION: Schwarzbier is German for black beer and originated in southeastern Germany. But unlike British-style dark ales, this German-style black lager does not display the roasted grain flavors and aromas found in most stouts. Instead it produces very mild notes of chocolate, coffee or vanilla.

Clear dark brown with a modest head and thin cap. Mild sweet malt nose. Thinnish body with mild malt notes and a decent bite. Passable but surpassed by many.
