Took home a howler from the tap room. Not as sweet as the Founder's Baltic Porter but very good. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy head that lasts quite a while. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Taste is also chocolate and coffee with some brown sugar for sweetness.

tasty baltic porter here, strong and robustly flavored, lots of dark roasty grain in this one, and even though its a little sweeter than many of these, the yeast kind of stands out, which is neat in such a dark beer. lots of body, an earthy nutty aspect, brown sugar, warming alcohol, smoothness for miles, and a somewhat longer finish. heavy dark chocolate and coffee character in the aroma, a little more grainy in the flavor, but with some good bitterness to balance the residual sugar in the finish. lots going on here honestly, and the slight hint of oxidation even seems to flatter it and bring out the yeast a little more. this is my first beer from chapman, and its a good one, also in an ambitious style. i would love to try some more of their beers before too long here. not enough good baltic porter in the american craft world right not, so this was a treat. stronger and fuller bodied than a lot of them, but just right for winter time. it could be a little drier, but i like it a lot the way it is.
