my first beer from bolivia. thanks to drlovemd87 for passing this one along to me, not sure i would have found one of these anytime soon. its a cool beer, obviously attempted in the german tradition, but it ends up having some of its own unique flare to it. nice and rich in color, the deepest of reds in a bright light, but for the most part this looks like a rather viscous brown ale. not as much head on it as i would like in the style, but its not totally flat either, especially considering the long distance it has traveled from the place of its origin. nice nutty caramel nose, not at all german it doesnt seem in the malts, but they sort of fill the right range here. almond flour and homemade caramel sauce come to mind, buttery and bready, morning aromas all around. the flavor is like that too, sort of more of a bran thing going on with the grain, a little roastier than most of the german examples i am familiar with, and with quite a bit of sweetness in the line of brown sugar or molasses. it could use more carbonation for sure, but i like all the body and i like the combination of flavors, absolutely a little something different here. overall a cool beer, id like to try it super fresh at the source some day!
