Aged for a year in Sangiovese wine barrels. Amber brew, not quite clear, with adequate foam in the Kasteel chalice. At first sip it tastes like a really good Wild Ale. Sharp, actually tart, but with plenty of residual sugar.

Strong with alcohol and tastes quite winey. Aromatic with fermenting pineapple and a sharp nose. Somehow it strikes a good balance between malt and the acidic side.

This is such a nice variation on the Tripel style, which is strong and clean enough to take some dosing up with flavors. Also sweet enough to keep the wild things in check. Overall this is very drinkable and a better beer than many wine barrel attempts. I have another bottle which I'll keep around to see what happens in another year.
