I don't want to say this beer is bland, but just a little soft.

This is brewed with fresh pineapple and you can feel that sensation on your teeth. Hops are listed as Denali, Citra, and Mosaic, and it does smell nice and citrusy. It all seems like a recipe for success but it is so unbearably sweet. It's like fruit juice with a spoon of marmalade stirred in. Even after the palate withers from fatigue, it's still barely drinkable. And then there's the bitter aftertaste.
As much as I revere Modern Times, they have contributed to a few stinkers this year. From the 500 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station.

its weird that they call this hazy, because our bottle was pretty darn close to clear, glowing shiny golden and with a nice tall white head on it that hardly settles at all, pretty beer for sure. aroma is great too, i like how bitter it obvious still is, strong ipa has tended sweet lately, especially the ones with fruit in them, and i think this has made an intentional point to keep it bitter and hop driven, which it certainly is. the pineapple is natural and behind the hops for me in the aroma, but a little more balanced with the hops in the taste, juicy and fresh, real fruit here. it tastes like it has been sitting just a little bit, slight oxidation to it, a little decay on the hops, but it has a cool profile, denali stands out in it, which is a cool one with the obvious pineapple. i like that the fruit isnt overdone, and i sure appreciate it finishing bitter and clean rather than sweet and boozy. i dont really get the hazy part, even towards the bottom of the bottle it stays pretty cleaned up looking. i liked this one, especially for the price. cool little bottle of beer here, done in collaboration with modern times.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pretty, hazy orange, minimal head, bubbles keep on rising from the bottom like a glass of champagne- very nice looking- definitely has my hopes up...
Smell is subtle... I’ve had some NE ipa’s I could sniff like a bouquet, over and over. This one gives you the idea but it’s not an experience all on its own. We might as well get to the tasting...
Taste is juicy goodness. Bottle says “citrusy tropical party”-and I can agree. Finishes a little bitter, maybe the 8.5% kicking in a bit or maybe the west coast. Either way, I like my NE to finish a bit smoother.
Feels good on the tongue. Substantial but not overwhelming and tacky.
Almost to the end of this one, a few sips left. Bubbles are still rising, still looks amazing. It’s growing on me... if I were in a bar, I’d order another one.
