Seems like this has over a year on it, so the strong hop bite is surprising. Bitter orange rind with some pine is prominent throughout. In the middle some sweetness shines through, pineapple and sugar cookies. The finish is robust, lingering bitterness. I really like how this all comes together. The pineapple is subdued, making this basically a straight up bruiser of an American Barleywine. Not sure if that's due to age or not. Regardless I'm happy with it right now.
Edit: the pineapple gets stronger as it warms.

Pours a deep burnt orange with a nearly two full finger slight off white head that settles very slowly into a frothy mass atop. Some what lighter aromas but nice enough, get some caramel a deep fruit/caramelized pineapple.Sweet and cakey with some reduced pineapple syrup and booze up front, there is a slight drying in the finish to keep it from being overly cloying.A decent take on the style with added pineapple, more of a night cap than a 4:30 grilling beer.....

16oz. Can
Canned On: December 2020
2020 Edition (Special Release)
Poured into a chalice a very nice translucent pale orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which leaves a very nice medium size island/oil slick, and some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice dark fruit complex (cherries, raisins, figs, grapes, dates, plums), pineapple, vanilla, toffee, slight licorice. The taste is very nice, hoppy, malty, with a very nice dark fruit complex (cherries, raisins, figs, grapes, dates, plums), nice touch of pineapple, vanilla, toffee, licorice, pretty nice sweetness. Full Body, ABV hidden very well, a pretty nice complex brew. Overall, a very tasty brew. A nice take on the style. Glad I got a chance to try this.

Can from Trader Joe's.
A clear caramel with an off-white head with decent retention and lacing, this looks solid. For something that claims to be dessert in a can, this is quite reserved. This smells like a fresh barleywine with a little pineapple and syrup. Caramel, toffee and an aggressive hop character with pine and pairing nicely with the pineapple. Ar the end of the day, this is a fresh American barleywine.
The palate opens bitter, sweet and boozy, with the hops tempered by pineapple juice and caramel. There's bitter caramel, honey, floral notes, as well. A mild simple syrup note rounds out the palate. Boozy on the finish with a pineapple sweetness, this beer is quite solid. The pineapple helps temper the hops by making this a little sweeter. Solid stuff.
