Can from Uptown Market.
Amber with a dense, light brown head with good retention and lacing. The nose is dominated by juniper, rich, pungent and almost medicinal, clashing with the base barleywine with golden raisins, honey, a Simpson malt like doughy sweetness. Mildly bready. The palate opens with an herbal bitterness, with juniper and mild anise like notes. Those aren't typical barleywine flavors, and they're oddly compelling when paired with a gorgeous, lush, fruity, malty base beer. Toffee, golden syrup, light maple sugar. Big booze on the finish with loads of juniper and some bitter orange peel. Medium full in body. Inspired, compelling, though a bit of a unique curiosity.

L: Dark orange body, big loose uneven head.
S: Rich and sweet. Huge malty notes, nuts, toffee, candied orange, spice, and liquor (more bourbon than gin).
T: Big and boozy upfront. Heavy caramel malt at first with molasses and toffee, then fruity, citrusy hops bringing some bitterness. The gin comes out with the hops and on the finish, along with a bit more nuttiness.
F: Very, very hot. The alcohol is not masked at all.
O: This is a powerful beer that does not apologize for its boozy character. It’s not as chewy or dark as a lot of its BBA stout-leaning peers, but I don’t feel that detracts from it. I do think some time in a cellar would take it to another level.
