Can. Gold with very slight haze lasting small head and a little lace. Grassy herbal noble aroma with some breadiness. Medium sweet very grainy some with medium herbal lingering bitterness in finish. Light body. Medium carbo. Well done and very refreshing.

No can date
Pours a med-larger frothy 1+ finger head with med retention, light sticky lacing, crystal clear light pale color

Nose grainy-sweet bready malts, a little dough and cereal, pilsner malt, hint of Pilsner corn, and light herbal hops

Taste comes on soft like a lager, more grainy-sweet doughy bready pilsner malt, a little cereal and faint Pilsner corn, light herbal hops in the background with a hint of fruit, otherwise clean lagered ale, semi dry but semi crisp finish, a bit more bitterness as well

Mouth is med to lighter bod, soft lager-like, med to a little lighter frothy carb

Overall not bad, clean Kolsch with nice characters present, nothing crazy but well made, and they didn't try to do more than it should.

On tap at River Road tavern
Lightly hazy light gold in color with a thin white head that recedes. Light crackery bread with some earthy spicy hops and a bit of astringency. Needs a bit of work but not horrible.

Straw colored look, smelled of lemon and some lovely herbs. Taste was surprising in terms of the subtle lemon flavor. Maybe a little too much on the lemon. Overall a very nice interpretation of a Kolsch.

From a can with no visible freshness date.

Not quite clear straw gold body with a bright white foamy head. Some lace present.

Scent is very light citrus/herbal hops, biscuit and cracker.

Taste is crisp and clean with lemon, cracker and biscuit notes and a really nice dry herbal hop bitterness on the finish. Slightly spicy as the hops build with each successive sip. A subtle bready flavor.

Drinkability is exceptional. Each sip leaves me wanting another.

LIghtly carbonated body is light to medium with a clean crisp finish.

Understated, well executed and eminently drinkable.

Enjoyed on draft today at the Lady Killegrew, 16 oz pour into a shaker pint glass
A - Dark straw color, a touch of haze, excellent carbonation, feeds a frothy tight white cap
S - earthy grains, grassy hops, cut lawn, a touch of lemon verbena.
T - Follows the nose well, not much deviation
M - Excellent feel, crisp, quick to dry, hard water and perfect carbonation.
O - A very good take on the style, color was a bit dark, beyond that well done

Pours a lightly hazy deep gold color with a thin white head that disappears.

Aroma is a little yeasty, a bit sweet with a weak citrus blossom to it.

The flavor seems well balanced with the light breadiness coming through very pleasantly, a bit of floral and a light sweetness.

Feel is a little soft with some pepper in the mid-taste. Moderate fizz and very low bitterness. It is a thin beer but not watery tasting.

This is a very light and refreshing pale that seems like a great summer ale. Gneiss knows their stuff and it shows with this one.

Pale yellow color with a greenish hue. Superb lasting lace which leaves a blanket of lace after each sip. Light haze.

Fresh malty start to the smell. Very much like the beers poured on tap in Cologne Germany.

This is the closest thing to the real thing. This is an awesome Kölsch. I don't think I could tell the difference from the originals. This is a style that appeals to me. Lots of pale, pale malt, fairly dry with a richer than average body and a correspondingly higher carbonation.

Overall, I think this may be superior to the brews from Cologne -- true to style yet with a better appearance and fuller flavor.

Pint on draft in a house pint at Hella Good in Portland.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy yellow/straw with a ring of lace.

Aroma: Dry, yeasty. Some piney accent.

Taste: Dry, lemony, with a sharp hop bite. Very nice. Slight white grape note.

Mouthfeel: Super (uber?) sessionable.

Overall: Terrific kolsch. A winner from the Gneissters. One of the better summer offerings I've had so far.
