L- Dark amber, slightly cloudy (rest very well before enjoying!). Pours with HUGE pillowy just off-white head.
S- Hard for me to discern, but there is something fruity and a bit soapy there.
T- The Smell^ makes a bit more sense now. I was expecting something pretty trad but this is quite a bit more contemporary. It seems to have used modern hops that bring some fruity notes, and it's materially hoppy/dry. The lable talks of 'spicy but nutty flavour' maybe they're what come over as a bit soapy to me.
M- Notably hoppy/dry. Veeery good carbonation in the mouth as it's bottle-conditioned, but give it a few days to settle after getting it home.
O- I think how the 'spicy and nutty' facets convey to others will determine what they conclude with this one.
Bought for me as a gift from St. Augustine's Abbey in Canterbury. £3.00/500ml bottle. BB: May-2020.
