Served on tap in a bar in West Hartford. When I ordered this is was listed as a stout, upon its arrival it did not appear to be a stout, it looked more like a brown ale. Now coming here I see it is a red ale, so the appearance makes sense to me now.
Reviewing it as it is listed here I will say it was decent at best. There is definitely a hint of the barrel aging, but it’s not as strong as I’d like.
Overall it is an ok ale, was hoping for a stout to be honest, but alas it wasn’t.

sampling a cellar temp 22 oz bottle poured into my snifter. Bought at the brewery and cellared since. This bottle is marked as a 10.8% not the 8.7 that is listed here.
The beer pours a clear mahogany color with some slight sediment suspended in the glass. A densely packed creamy khaki colored head of 2 cm foams up even with a gentle pour. The foam sticks around as a sturdy surface layer through out the sampling. Leaving some windowpane lattice as I take each sip. The aroma is lots of malt with maple syrup and bourbon notes mixing with caramel. There are no hints of any hop character nor the booze on this beer.
First sip reveals an average body with fine yet tingly carbonation. The flavor is malt with caramel and brown sugar mixing with some maple syrup too. This is a sweet beer from start to finish. I get some black pepper and some warming booze on each of the swallows that I take. The beer is drinkable but is a little boozy too. I enjoy this beer and wish I had a second bottle.

Super malty super special maple sap beer. Big time burbon and maple in the nose. Same with taste but with more maple. Slightly sticky mouthfeel but not overly so.
Loved it.
