Pouring a cellar temp 22 oz bottle into my snifter. 2018 vintage.
The beer is a recent purchase from the brewery. The beer pours a deep cola brown color with a fizzy khaki colored head of 1 cm. This foam fades to a clingy edge layer and one large island on the surface of my glass. Leaves some dense lattice on the glass after each sip.
Aroma is a mix of sweet chocolate and roasted malt with a bit of brown sugar and maybe a hint of vanilla. NO hops and the ABV is hidden at this point as well.
First sip reveals an average body with spacious carbonation that does tingle a little on each mouthful. The texture is very smooth and the beer drinks pretty easy.
Flavor is rich and malty as expected from the nose. I get a hit of roasted malt and lots of dark chocolate. A little vanilla in the middle but then a lingering dark chocolate and dark fruit note lingers after each swallow.
I dont get any hops and the ABV is well hidden here as well.
This is a nice roast forward and chocolate, yet not sweet dark brew. Glad to have tried it and recommend getting a bottle if bigger dark beers are what you dig.
