Direct from the source comes this 16 ounce can ...no canning date indication to be had.

Pour out with a slight to medium haze level, fine off white sheeting left on the glass.

A whiff of perfume and floral qualities on the nose.

Pleasing and easily approachable offering, subtle, smooth, complex and quite tasty...ripe stone fruits, mango, soft melon and kiwi all joining the party....well done and well worth a try.

Light in color. Opaque. Soft. Peppery. Firefly Hollow got this one right. It falls into the category of CT beers that call themselves New England IPAs but are really something different. A Julius is a NEIPA. A Congress Street is a NEIPA. Here in CT we’ve had a hefty does of light , pillowy beers lately that Just seem to remove the entire malt backbone and cram in the hops. They carry names that refer to pillows and clouds. Two Roads, Back East, Stubborn Beauty and many more. NEIPA attempts from NY based six point are also a good example of this malt-less style. To date it has not been something I’ve cared for. There is usually a doughy biscuit finish on the upper palette. And while soft, they are often thin. Sometimes there is not that much to taste in them. They are nothing akin to the NEIPAs that they make a claim to be. Although I will say that a Treehouse Eureka does approach this style.

Why all this background here? Well, because Firefly Hollow actually did this style well with Glow. They hit it spot on and it is the best example of the style I have had. If you like Back East’s Ice Cream Man you will like this more. It’s better balanced. It’s less rough. Still got that very peppery hops finish - Galaxy and Citra I would say in heavy doses.

This beer was a pleasant surprise that, to my palette, finally brings a well crafted, balanced winning representative to this category of Connecticut beers.
