I am sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. No date stamp info on the can. Picked up at the brewery about 8 weeks ago and has been in my fridge since then.
The beer pours a deep clear mahogany color with a creamy dense beige head of 2 cm. This foam fades to a sturdy surface layer soon after the pour. Some tight lattice on the glass when I swirl the beer.
The aroma is definitely malt forward with some toffee and a bit of toasted malt. I also get a little brown sugar note as well. There is a bit of a black tea hop scent in the background, but for sure this is malt centric nose.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and sort of prickly carbonation. Texture is crisp and a little on the thin side but makes the beer more easy to drink.
The flavor is similar to the nose with some toffee sweetness and a bit of caramel and here I sort of get a bit of sweeter hazelnut flavor. But toasted malt and toffee dominate. A bit of black tea in the middle and then this rolls back to toffee for the finish. Never any hint of ABV and this beer drinks pretty easy. Pretty solid brew.
