Had on tap at Engine House 9. Light and tart with a smokey back note. Reminds me a of pineapple and bacon, or the remnants of pineapple bacon. Flavors were pretty mellow. Nice overall.

Small, fast vanishing head with a hazy yellow color. Smoke, salt, hints of tart sour- fruitiness. Very smoky first impression, along with hints of salt, spices and a medium sourness. Decent complexity, still easy drinkable, well balanced. Sweet and sour tastes are both contained in this beer, both go surprisingly well together. Smoke and salt help to create a pleasant overall impression. Heavy on the smoke.

Wow, this stuff is killer, chug a lug. Everything is smack on. The freshness and carbonation is in perfect balance with the smoke, which in turn give a great counterpoint to the acid. There's a hint of sweet for further dimension. Nothing is overdone. Super easy drinking.

Different label, "postage stamp" design. Brewed at Vormann.

Hazy orange gold, sudsy white foam forms a lasting head that eventually breaks across the surface.
Aroma is softly smoky, faint campfire wood smoke, very soft and clean.

Taste is very good, a pleasant cloudberry tartness that almost carries a tropical edge. Crisp and tart, fruitiness takes a front seat, vaguely smoky on the back end. Creamy smooth, dries out quickly. Overall the fruit character really adds an interesting dimension to a well crafted Lichtenhainer. Recommended.

I enjoyed this on tap at Federal Taphouse-served chilled in a snifter.

The color is a golden shade with brilliant clarity and thick white head with fine bead visible carbonation with good retention. The smell has a smoky and mildly medicinal aroma with slight salty/mineral accent with an almost plastic scent. The feel has a tangy and lemony juicy quality with a mild smoky texture and drywith subtle spice with a mostly dry finish with moderate carbonation level with low sweetness level.

The taste is very dry with lots of smoke and earthy tangy yeast with lactic lemony character and slight hint of spice not too strong as far as alcohol-wise but tropical with a lightly medicinal edge but not band-aid at all, just slight woody fruity juniper berry influence with a complex dry tangy finish. Overall I think this is excellent - a gose with smoky and tangy tart taste that is refreshing with enough abv not to be considered a session beer but I will sacrifice a little drinkability for some complexity in a gose -not your usual lemony flavored german ale

L: A lightly hazy golden ale that pours with two fingers of fluffy white head. The foam leaves ropes of lacing on the glass.

S: A prominent smoke aroma at a moderately strong level with a light, fruity tart note.

T: Smoke and tart dominate with a light honey like malt sweetness in the middle resolving in a dry, tart finish. There is a moderate, light colored fruitiness like peaches and apricots. A moderate bitterness and light saltiness.

F: A medium-full bodied beer owing a fair amount of thickness on the palate from the salt. A strong level of carbonation and moderate creaminess and a touch of astringency.

O: This beer smells amazing with a great combination of smoke and sour that works surprisingly well. A very food friendly beer that's acidity would partner well with a beef stew.
