served on nitro, coffee, cocoa, and vanilla in this blonde stout, the style that just wont die. i think they did a pretty decent job with this, especially if you dont mind them sweet. the chocolate and coffee character is high in here, but the vanilla really drives the flavor, and has an almost candied character about it, wrapped up in a lot of sweetness either from the malt or from some added sugar, maybe both. its fuller bodied and smooth, they definitely got that part of it right, and there is some roasted bitterness from the coffee and an earthy low end from the cocoa nibs that give this some semblance of balance, but even with that, its too sweet for me personally, more than i could drink a few glasses of, but the flavor is nice and i think its a little more complex than a lot of these ever get. the vanilla is also strong enough here that very little malt flavor can be appreciated, and thats weird in a stout, which usually is defined by its grain profile. in any event, this is a flavorful brew thats well served by the nitro pour, but not one i really care to have more than one of at this sweetness.
