Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Thin rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Small particles of sediment are seen floating in the beer after the pour. Smell is of malt, dark fruit, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with spice and perfume-like fruit flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with an odd flavor that is very reminiscent of perfume or something of that nature.

Found this beer in a small grocery store in Kalaeloa, HI. There is only a couple of bottles there at any time and by the afternoon they are gone. At $4.59 a bottle it caught my interest.

Great picture of Fr. Damien on the lable.
Poured into a glass with a 2" creamy tan head.
Head quickly disappeared with no lacing. Brown body that you cannot see through.
Aroma: Complex, malt, yeast, fruit
Taste: Smooth, no bitterness. There is very little carbonation.
Alc/Vol 7%
After taste: Pleasant and smooth. There is something that tickles the back of the throat.
A good beer for a great saint.

Appearance: Light brown - ruby color with a good amount of off white head.

Smell: Has a floral bouquet along with some spices.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Good amount of malt flavor along with some darker fruit flavors. Thin to medium mouthfeel with the abv well-hidden.

Overall: As the label says, "Is it right to honor a saint with a beer? When he's from Belgium, most certainly.." Picked this up because of the novelty factor, but enjoyed it so much that I'm going to buy some more.
