In an old barn, but fixed up nice. A nice rustic wooden bar and then a bunch of other seating. 7 house beers on tap - summer, pale ale, oatmeal stout, IPA, NEIPA, ESB, and Milk Stout. Beers I had were decent. Service was fine at the bar. I had a burger, fries, and Mexican style street corn - pretty good all around.

One of Josh’s best beers - Imperial cask condition with some bourbon flavors very smooth was a nice finish

Happy Valley doesn't look like much from the outside, I think it was an old barn, and the location isn't great, but it's really unique and interesting on the inside. It's owned by the same people that own Champs, Local Whiskey, and Phirst, and they seem to really put some though into their designs. Happy Valley Brewing might be their best work.
It's got an antique wood back bar and the bar top itself is a solid slice of what was once a very large tree. The bar stools are backed in fur (most likely faux fur, no one needs to get upset). There are 12 taps that flow from ceramic "German" beer towers.
The bar and the dining area are all together in one large room that appears to have been a barn in its former life, with a wooden beam structure and a door to nowhere above the bar to the left. The floor is made up of wood in some areas, and herringboned brick in others. Along the roof there's hung an astrological "beer' mural, and it seems everywhere you look there's something of interest. There are 3 two-top tables in the bar area with floral cloth backing, and banquet seating in the dining area that's backed with a brown and cream floral pattern. Decorations such as a radiator grill from a tractor round it out.
I think it's worth a visit just to take a look at the great design, but the beers are great as well. I can't speak for the food as I haven't eaten there, but it appears to be top notch. Highly recommended!

I was at the bar, service was horrible a good 10 to 15 minutes between beer. I was there on Tuesday at 8:00pm the place is crowded and the staff looked overwhelmed. The nachos came burned and as a southern boy I should have known the don't know BBQ. The beer on the other hand is pleasant and well crafted.

Nice selection of beers. They had a nice food selection. Found the prices to be a little pricey for state college. A great place to drink a beer

Place looked great, beers were very stellar, food looked good, service was okay until my bartender decided to fully train someone else during his shift, np but besides that.......a very promising place. Seriously though, I was getting okay service until my bartender spent the whole time training a newby and completely ignoring his customers. Major F-UP in my opinion.

They're relatively new in State College and presumably still hitting their stride. That being said, it's a decent place to grab a pint and a nice change of pace from Otto's. Their beers are average and very hit or miss, especially their more limited/seasonal brews. The base beers are unexciting (with the exception of Barnstormer IPA perhaps) but not bad. The food menu is limited and a bit pricey, but the quality is reasonably solid and their short rib nachos are spectacular (and they give huge portions). It's a nice mix of family friendly (upstairs with a larger dining area) and a sports bar (downstairs... great bar with lots of big screen TV's for game night). They also mix in live music regularly if that's your thing.

Nice alternative to Otto's if you're looking for a brewpub while in State College. Upscale menu ... ample tv viewing opportunity for sporting events, etc. on 1st level. Adequate selection of beers although they were out of 3 ... really wnated to try Bongo Fury (Black IPA) Maybe next time.

Loved the cheese plate deep fried ribs and all beers were fresh and tasty...I came here with my wife and we really felt at home-it is spacious and the service is decent. I enjoyed a few pints including the barleywine, double IPA and coffee stout -It is easy to find, I would come back.

Stopped in for the first time on 7/27/14 for lunch with the girlfriend. Great experience from the moment I walked in the door. I heard the bartender mention that the newly refurbished building was around 200 years old, and the atmosphere inside is perfect for drinking a beer. I ordered the Tsar Bomba to start, followed by a flight of 6 different brews, all of which were excellent. The NitWit and Belgian Amber stood out in particular.
And of course, the food. It doesn't get much better. Burger was juicy and piled high toppings. Rosemary fries were great. I've eaten at Otto's on a number off occasions, and this particular visit topped all of them. I'll be back for sure.

Great atmosphere and food quality to complement the great beer being brewed! Arguably the best beer being brewed in Centre County, PA. Definitely worth the stop! Menu and atmosphere is nothing like you ever experienced! Basement beautiful with 360 degree bar with single and double benches. Upstairs a bit more formal with gorgeous architecture and artwork. Lighting from old bank in Philadelphia from early 1900's.
