V-Grist is located in a strip mall in the southern suburbs of Denver. The place is clean and bright, but I admit that I miss the gritty, dusty, industrial park feel that many of Grist's competitors "offer." The brewing equipment is large and on full display behind the centrally located bar and tables up front. A few TVs line the bar and walls. A nice patio sits out front of the place and faces south making it a good place to catch some sun.
Q-I have mostly enjoyed the Grist beer that I have tasted in bottles before (the Berliner Weiss, I think), but the New Zealand IPA that I tried on tap was pretty lackluster. Flavors were off and the beer felt amateur. The other beer I tried, a Kolsch, was decent, but not earth-rocking.
Ser-The bartender was friendly and put up with our large group invading his quiet early Sunday afternoon. Beers were served at the proper temperature. Glassware was pretty simple, so if you're a tulip snob, you'll be disappointed.
Sel-I was strangely uninspired by the beers on offer when I visited. I felt like Grist was lacking in diversity with nothing but pale beers on offer. I could have used a few more stouts or darker beers since it is now November.
O-I was less than impressed by Grist. The space is nice, but not terribly interesting and the beers were ho-hum at best.

my first trip to grist was a good one. i used to be so jazzed up by these guys after they took the market by storm with their first release, that delicious berliner they did last spring. since then though, its been a bunch of overpriced lackluster releases, so it was nice to finally get into the brewery and see what they are all about. i love the layout of the place, angular center bar with the brewery in back and some well placed tables. clean and new feeling, with a really cool divider wall made from barn wood and grain paneling. they had the usual suspects on tap, with a few brewery only offerings. we loved the albino stout and especially the sorachi ace hop based walters white ipa. they were both great, and there were some other new ones on the menu as well that we didnt get to. casual feel in here, no pretension, uncrowded, and friendly faces all around. service was a little slow, but friendly enough. prices here were also really fair, they were filling growlers (from a really neat machine) about as affordably as anywhere. they also do the crowler fills here. we hung out for a few beers and time really just passed us by on a lazy saturday afternoon. a great stop on the burgeoning santa fe beer corridor.

Just tried this out for the first time last night. The place is tucked into a commercial area, but that just means there is plenty of available parking during drinking hours! Pretty spartan looking, but we're here for the beer right? The music was pretty upbeat, with a good mixture of 80's, 90's and newer rock. Friendly atmosphere all around. The beers were pretty good, although not outstanding, with a very wide selection of beers available. Prices were about normal for everywhere else. Will probably hit this place up again in the future as it is near one of my work locations.

This is one of those breweries that understand what it takes to make great beers in the future. Get the basics right and then experiment. Ive seem them take big leaps in the past 6 months. They are my local brewery and gauging from all the spots I have been to over the years, they will be a name you will want to remember.

Too bad the beers aren't so well reviewed right now (3/9/14) as our experience was quite nice! At this time the majority of their beer reviews are from the first two months after opening. They had a bad stout and a bad hefe but the newer batches are far better now that they've had a chance to adjust to a 20 (?) barrel system. This is actually a very good brewery! Didn't have a bad beer on tap and we tried them all! If you showed up in the first 3 or 4 months, try them again!

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon (non-NFL Sunday too) so can't tell you what atmosphere is like on a late weekend evening.
Nice, clean, new and bright taproom with a big circular-style bar in the middle with tables around the tasting area. TV's on both ends of the bar. Kid friendly (at least earlier in the day) with couches in the front.
Decent-sized brewing area visible in the back half of the building. Saw some barrels lined up along the side wall.
Two different flight options (3oz pours of 4 high ABV brews for 6$; standard lineup of 5 brews for 6$).
Had a Kolsh, Hefe, a Belgian, 3 stouts and two IPAs and one other brew I can't remember on tap. Was told a Doppelbock was soon to be released. Was also told two different barrel aged beers are currently being aged (RIS on Stranahan's barrels and belgian in wine barrels).
Solid, clean brews. Hopped up stout was good and American IPA was my favorite. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I asked about the hop profile in the IPA and server was kind enough to tell me (3 C's and Warrior).
The greater SW Denver metro area doesn't really have much of a brewery scene and this is a welcome addition. Looking forward to what the future brings for Grist.
